In Denmark there aren’t that many who eats chestnuts which we at RADIO think is a shame since the chestnut is a really good element in the kitchen. It is of course important that you use edible chestnuts and not those growing in your yard at home. The edible chestnuts have a sweet flavor and smell very nutty. Their season is from October to December, which is perfect, since they are really good with venison, cabbage and other intense produce.

When baking or boiling chestnuts it is important you remember to cut a whole or cross in the nut, because otherwise you risk getting bumps on the inside of your oven while cooking. They pop like corn, you know.
